May is here and a great time to throw an outside baby shower party! A great baby shower gift are short sleeve onesies as they will always be needed by the parents-to-be. Other great baby shower gifts are to give "care packages" within other baby shower gifts such as a laundry basket, red wagon, bucket, washing tub, etc. These can be very reasonably priced baby shower gifts and are much appreciated.

April is a great time for a baby shower as Spring is in the air and the warm weather is back! Tie in bright and vibrant colors to the party or go with pastels to make the shower festive. A great idea is having the baby shower outside if it is warm enough. Just watch out for April showers!

It is fun to integrate the new year with the baby shower by popping open some apple cider (that looks like champagne as the mommy-to-be should not be drinking the real stuff) as well as throwing confetti and bringing in the symbol of baby new year! It is also fun to tell the mommy- o-be advice for the new year relating to raising a baby! Enjoy the year!

If a mommy-to-be lives out of town, a great idea is to give gift cards or send the baby shower gift directly to her home and give her a picture of the item she will be receiving. This way she is not burdened with bringing gifts back with her while being pregnant and everyone saves on shipping!

Decorate the baby shower party perimeter by taking newborn size diapers, filling them with rocks, marbles, anything heavy, and basically wrapping up the rocks as if it were babies bottom. Then I will attach about 5 balloons (pink or blue) with long strings and set these around the border of the shower area. During these warm months, bring in some cool and calming symbols for the mother-to-be as it is hard to be pregnant during the hot months! Have the party outside if not too hot and use calming colors such as pastels, cool colors (blue, white) to set the atmosphere.

A real neat baby shower activity is to make a baby scrapbook for the parent's to be. Give everyone a page to create borders, pictures, and little sayings so you can place them all in the book for the mother to be to use when taking pictures of the birth and on. It is a great way to have everyone participate in the memories. It is even fun to take a picture at the party of every baby shower participant and place it on the back of the page so you know who did the page for you and who attended the baby shower. It is great to add a little love to the baby shower by tying in Valentine's day by bringing in hearts, angels and making heart candy that says "It's a Boy" or "It's a Girl". BABY SHOWER IDEA OF THE MONTH - JANUARY 2007
It is fun to tie in the superbowl game or football season, especially if you are having a couple's baby shower party with the men or if the baby-to-be is a boy. For the invitations, you can get tons of inexpensive blue plastic footballs and glued plastic babies, safety pins, etc. to them. Make a hole in one corner and looped a ribbon with a pastel colored index card attached to it that has the shower information typed on it. On the invitation, instructed everyone to wear their favorite football jersey. A fun game is called "Quarter Back" where you have the baby shower guests watch some of the football game and give a quarter every time someone cheers, yells, cusses or claps! It is a great way to start the baby shower fund for the new baby to be.

Tie the baby shower games with useful products the parent's to be can keep after the baby shower is over. For instance, play the guess the baby shower item game where you blindfold a baby shower guest and hand them an item so they can guess in as much detail as possible what they are holding. All items should be baby related and can be given as gifts after the baby shower is over. New parents to be who do not know much about what they need when the baby is born will benefit from things like diapers, onsies, baby shampoo, safety scissors, Aveno lotion products, etc. Be creative and have a great time!

BABY SHOWER IDEA OF THE MONTH - NOVEMBER
At every table, place two disposable cameras, along with a note inviting any and everyone to take photos. At the end of the shower, place a basket near the exit, and everyone should drop off the used cameras. Have a baby shower planner develop the film and put the photos together in an album for the mommy-to-be. It is very interesting to see the baby shower from so many different perspectives and it captures many moments that would have been missed had I only appointed one person to take photos! Buy a small tree that can be planted outside of the parents-to-be home. Tie baby items to the branches (pacifiers, bottles, nail clippers, etc.). The parent's to be can watch the tree and the baby grow at the same time. The same idea can be done with a small indoor plant.

Have everyone write advice or some kind of fun message on a piece of paper and place it inside each diaper so at 3 in the morning, the new mommy or daddy can see something fun from their friends in the diaper!
