BABY SHOWER DECEMBER HOLIDAY THEMES
A great decoration idea in December will
depend on what religion you are celebrating:
Christmas: If you want to
tie the theme of Christmas into your baby shower, paint bells, mini
trees, stars with blue or pink (if you know the gender of the baby). The
room can look like a winter wonderland (use cotton with glitter) and the
food can be festive for the season. Gingerbread and candy canes can say
"It's a boy" or "It's a girl".
Hanukah: If you want to tie
Hanukah into the shower, use the blue and white colors as well as make
festive foods like latkes and brisket. Decorate the room with blue or
pink dreidels (if you know the gender of the baby). The room can be
festive with lights since it is the festival of lights.
Kwanzaa: If you want to tie Kwanzaa into the theme, use the
colors black, red and green for the room. Tie the seven principals into
the theme in how it relates to the baby. People can dress in festive
clothing as well as the seven light Kinara placed at the party. Kwanzaa
is a family holiday and focus can be given to family values. Vegetables
can be served at the party since it coincides with what is symbolic of
Kwanzaa. I hope these ideas help you in planning your December party.
HOLIDAY RECIPE
A great Christmas, Kwanza,
Hanukah baby shower dessert recipe is our highly addictive baby shower
butter cake:
1 pkg yellow cake mix
2 sticks of butter (separately melted)
4 eggs
1 16oz box of confectioner's sugar
1 8oz pkg. cream cheese (softened)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preheat Oven to 350. You
will need to mixing bowls to mix two different things (the cake and the
topping):
In one mixing bowl, beat the baby shower cake mix, 1 stick of melted
butter and 2 eggs until well blended. This will be fairly stiff. Press
into a 9x13 cake pan.
In another mixing bowl, beat the other stick of melted butter, 2 eggs,
sugar, softened cream cheese and vanilla extract until well blended.
Pour this baby shower butter topping mixture over the bottom layer and
bake for 40 minutes (or until golden brown top and a little jiggly in
the center). Let it cool and place the baby shower butter cake in a
container or in saran-wrap. You can decorate the top of the cake with
frosting and make your favorite holiday picture with the baby shower
theme! You will have your baby shower guests talking on how good it is!

If you are one of the
lucky ones planning a baby shower during the
Christmas and holiday season, there are many
great
baby shower ideas
you can do to tie Winter holidays into the
festive event. As for
baby shower decorations
create snow flakes out of construction paper and
hang them up around the room (possibly even
threading them and hanging them from the
ceiling). Make a pregnant snow-woman for laughs.
You can even get crushed ice and make a mommy
snow woman for a centerpiece around the
baby shower food.
Speaking of food, serve festive finger food
sandwiches that may include winter vegetables,
turkey, cranberries, and don't forget the
eggnog.
Use the winter wonderland
as a
baby shower theme
and dress up a tree with little words of wisdom
from the baby shower guests. If you celebrate
Hanukah or Kwanza, use your traditions to tie in
the fun shower with symbols (menorah, blue and
white colors or red, green and black). Play a
dreidel
baby shower game
with diapers instead of gelt.
This is the season for
giving gifts,
baby shower gifts
that is. A great gift this season for new
parents is the
newborn care video
giving parents the most frequently asked
questions they will take to their pediatrician.
It also has a manual of most common questions. A
great stocking stuffer!
Tie in the
baby shower party favors
in with the Winter season. You also need to make
sure and do the
baby shower planning
in advance since there are many other events
that occur (i.e., holiday business parties) that
tie up resources. Another great idea is to give
to those in need (besides the new parents) and
donate to a favorite charity of the mommy-to-be.

If
you have your baby shower right before or after New Years, it can work
out very well as a baby shower New Years theme. A few ideas are to use
the theme of "New Year", by having everyone say what their resolutions
are. It is also a great time to give by having everyone donate to a
charity of less fortunate people, especially to a single mother's or
children's organization. A cute baby shower idea is to have everyone
sign a 2010 or Baby Time theme board (i.e., in the shape of a clock or
baby with a clock). Another idea is to have "Father" or "Mother" Time on
sheets of paper with a text bubble next to them or on a big poster board
and give the parent's to be some ideas that would be helpful for their
preparing for their little "Baby Time".
Symbolic candy, including
candy clocks and miniature new years candies are great to place on
tables of the baby shower. Serving finger food out of clocks or things
with Happy 2010 as well as spreading colorful decorations and shredded
paper/tinsel on tables is a nice touch for the new year celebration. The
Baby Shower New Years theme is still cute and works for the beginning of
January as well as the days prior to New Years. Decorations can be
little baby plastic dolls in diapers with clocks with a 2008 on their
diaper, signifying baby time, are symbolic along with a mother or father
time doll or decoration.
Baby shower decorations
can be purchased at any party store that sells new years decorations or
created for the New Year as well as cups, place settings and other
items. The use of black, white, gold, and silver are festive for the
Dec/Jan season. Balloons and Poppers can also be used and Champaign can
be given as a drink! Party hats with "It's a Boy" or "It's a Girl" with
2010 can be a party favor and festive with the theme. Baby Blocks can
spell out Happy New Years 2010 which can be given as a gift after the
party is over but used as decorations.
Wall decorations can be
New Years related, with the use of streamers, balloons, and firework art
to bring in the new year. A game can be played to guess when the baby is
coming in 2010 which can be emailed to everyone when the baby actually
comes. A time capsule can be created with pictures of the baby shower
event as well as writings from the baby shower guests for the little one
to open when they are older (a shoe box can be used or a small box which
will be tapped up and put away for the baby to open when they are older.
Everyone can contribute by placing words of wisdom, funny little sayings
along with money if they want to. It will be a memorable box to open
when the child is a teenager or young adult.
